Nearly everyone wants peace in their lives, in their homes and in their communities. Girls do not want to experience sexual harassment, sexual violence or any other form of violence coming from boys or men. Boys do not want to be bullied by other boys, be this at school or in the community. Community members want to live in a
place that is safe for themselves and for their children. For these reasons REPSSI has developed three programmes Say No to Gender Based Violence, all aimed at promoting peace and decreasing violence. The first two programmes are called EmPowering Girls – EG – (for girls) and Peace is a Decision – PiaD – (for boys). The main aim of EmPowering Girls (as the name suggests) is to empower girls to stand up to men and boys who treat them unfairly and who threaten their safety. The main objective of Peace is a Decision is (as the title suggests) for boys to think about how they act towards girls, what it means to be a man, and to choose peace in their relationships with girls.
