Ephraim's Journey to Financial Security and Improved Well-being Through the KCHS Project

Ephraim proudly harvests fresh greens from his family’s backyard garden, a result of the support from the KCHS project, which has improved his family’s nutrition and financial stability.

Mr. Seekera Ephraim, a beneficiary of the USAID KCHS project from Kiziba Sub-county, has seen a remarkable transformation in his life thanks to the Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC) initiative. Through the project, he was able to start a backyard garden, which has provided his family with a consistent supply of nutritious greens, even during the dry spell. “Before the garden, we often struggled to feed our children during the dry season. Now, they eat healthier meals every day,” Ephraim shared.

The benefits have extended beyond just nutrition. Ephraim’s mental health has greatly improved, as he no longer constantly worries about where his next income will come from. “I no longer have sleepless nights wondering how I’ll support my family,” he says.

The financial support from the SILC savings also enabled him to start small income-generating activities, further boosting his family’s economic stability. Ephraim credits the REPSSI project for this newfound peace and security, saying, “This wouldn’t have been possible without the project.”
